BELLO WATCH: Congratulations on your upcoming role as ‘Lizbeth’ in The 5th Wave! The trailer looks pretty epic and intense. Tell me a little bit more about the film and why you decided to get on board?

GABRIELA LOPEZ: The 5th Wave is based on a best-selling young adult novel by Rick Yancey. It is about a desperate teen trying to save her younger brother and ultimately the planet. After I auditioned, I found out it was based on a book, got the book and could not put it down. So good!

BW: It’s quite an action packed film; do you have a particular process for getting into character?

GL: I usually listen to music to get into character. I would listen to music I listened to as a teenager before the scenes or just jam out and hang with Chloe.

BW: This is such a talented cast, Chloe Grace Moretz and Liev Schreiber. What was it like filming alongside these talented actors?

GL: I did not get to work with Liev Schreiber unfortunately but working with Chloe was so much fun. It is so easy to just show up and be present in a scene with someone at that level. Plus we just had a great time goofing off in between takes.

BW: Did any other friendships blossom on set?

GL: Well like I said, Chloe and I hit it off pretty quickly. I made friends with Parker Wierling, who played Jeremy, and Matthew Zuk (Crucifix Soldier). Tony Revolori (Dumbo) and I are good friends now and we did not even meet on set. The whole crew was amazing I mean I think I made friends with pretty much everybody I met on set. Such an incredible experience.

BW: You are also set to appear in the film, Skate God, alongside Evan Ross, Peter Fonda and Tony Hawk next year. What is this movie about?

GL: It is about a skateboarder in a Dystopia future who discovers he is a descendent of a Greek God.

BW: Aside from acting I understand you are extremely active. When do you find the time to do yoga, bike and kayak with such a hectic work schedule? GL: I try to make time for exercise everyday because I feel it is very important for a healthy mind and healthy body. Especially with having a hectic work schedule, it is necessary to have me time and take care of myself. Also it’s fun!

BW: You also love music and concerts. Who are your favorite musicians?

GL: I love the band Aquilo. Listen to their song  “Human”. So perfect for The 5th Wave. Also one of my best friends, Ava Koci, has an incredible voice and I love her music. Checkout her Soundcloud!

BW: If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?

GL: Hmm…that is a toughie. I would have to say Lana Del Rey. I love her vibe, her voice, she is a musical genius, so that would be a dream.

BW: What can you tell your fans about you that they don’t already know?

GL: Well, my parents are pretty interesting. My dad is 85 years old, 86 in March, and very healthy at that. My mom is 55. Super dopetastic they are 30 years apart and also both in the mental health industry, cue: acting!

BW: Do you have a favorite quote or saying that you live by?

GL: Yes! “What is for us will not pass us.” That quote changed my life, when I start to rethink the past or spin about the future, I repeat this quote and immediately feel at peace that I am being taken care of.

BW: Lastly, is there anything else you’d like to share with your fans?

GL: To keep up with the latest happenings in my world follow me on Twitter and Instagram @gabrielajlopez. And like my Facebook page www.facebook.com/officialgabrielalopez.
