‘Resident Evil: Retribution’ – The L.A. Premiere + Shawn Robers for BELLO mag

Downtown Los Angeles saw another red carpet rolled out for the cast and crew of Resident Evil: Retribution, the fifth installment of the action-packed, zombie-crushing franchise, and Bello was honored to attend the festivities which took place at Regal Cinemas at L.A. Live.

Stars Milla Jovovich, Oded Fehr, Boris Kodjoe, Johann Urb, Kevin Durand, Li Bingbing, Sienna Guillory, and recent Bello interviewee Shawn Roberts were on hand to greet fans, chat with reporters, and swipe some 3D glasses before heading into the ginormous theater where writer-director Paul W.S. Anderson introduced the film and reminisced about the franchise’s origins way back in 2002.

The action in Retribution picks up immediately where Resident Evil: Afterlife left off, with our kickass heroine, Alice, plunging into the ocean after a devastating attack by the evil Umbrella Corporation. From there, it’s a non-stop ride through elaborate set pieces (who knew running through the streets of a simulated New York and Moscow could be so thrilling?), eye-popping fight sequences, and a climactic battle leading to one hell of a cliffhanger (yep, a sixth film is all but inevitable).

After the screening, we were treated to a lush afterparty at WP24 at the Ritz-Carlton across the street. Guests were treated to mouthwatering sliders, vegetable spring rolls, and chicken skewers prepared by world-renown chef Wolfgang Puck. As for cocktails, we opted out of the vodka punch and clung to our bottled water throughout the night. There, we saw another Bello alumnus, the gorgeous Laura Vandervoort, sitting with friends and enjoying the spectacular view of downtown L.A.

Resident Evil: Retribution opens in theaters today.
