Spring styles 2012 February 8, 2012 With spring just around the corner, it’s certainly time to start thinking about updating your wardrobe to reflect the latest incoming trends. All signs point to men’s fashion turning to masculinity again, so why not invest in a new jacket, sweatshirt or chinos from Trainerspotter at Size? There’s a huge variety of options to choose from, but as always, it comes down to following a few simple tips if you don’t want to be left behind. According to the MillionLooks blog, the male fashion scene in spring 2012 will be “diverse and interesting”, with colour palettes ranging from bright orange to vivid blue. If you’re not the type to make a bold statement, you’ll be glad to know that the monochrome look is still perfectly valid, with camel and white expected to be the biggest colours for those who want to tone it down. However, there’s no reason not to inject a bit of colour into your outfits, and prints will be the in-thing once again: plaid is no surprise as it’s been popular for a while, but stripes and Hawaiian patterns are also making a comeback – stock up now for your holidays! To accessorise, a colourful scarf is a must, along with funky shades and even an eye-catching man bag or “murse”. Everyone’s got a few white shirts in their wardrobe, and this spring will be the time to give them some wear, either tucked in to a pair of smart trousers or with one side tucked into jeans, if you feel like channelling your inner David Beckham. Where shoes are concerned, try a pair of fringed loafers with casual wear, or team up a pair of comfortable sandals with a t-shirt and cut-offs – another trouser trend that’s coming back into vogue. Meanwhile, Esquire magazine weighed in with its own advice for men’s fashion in spring 2012, similarly predicting that colours will become bolder than ever. If you’re in the market for a new suit, it seems boxy and loose-fitting is the way to go, and double-breasted blazers are still going strong for those who want to keep toasty while they stay trendy. If you want to indulge your playful side, suits in tartan and check have been glimpsed on the catwalks and look set to be popular among those who can pull them off.
